Easter Island - Ancient monumental statues

Easter Island - Ancient monumental statuesEaster Island (Rapa Nui in the original language), is a Chilean-governed island in the south eastern Pacific Ocean. Rapa Nui is a little, hilly now treeless island of volcanic origin. It is been called the most isolated occupied territory on Earth, but there is one more aspect that sets it apart from any other place on Earth its hundreds of megalithic human-like statues that face inland from the shore. These mysterious statues are called moai.

Almost all moais were carved out of characteristic, compressed, easily worked volcanic ash. The biggest one weights up to 165 tons & its height is almost 22 meters. Some upright moai have become covered up to their necks by shifting soils.  This huge production of megalithic works on an Easter Island that is absolutely barren, with just grass, right away captures our imagination.

Some scientists suggest that Easter Island population, the Rapanui came from Polynesia. However similarities to Indian stone statues around Lake Titicaca in South America are striking.

Stonehenge - Popular Mysteries Megalithic Tombstone

Stonehenge - Popular Mysteries Megalithic Tombstone
Many popular experts possibility suggest that, mysterious sites around the world were created with help of advanced knowledge & technology (possibly more advanced than our current one) possessed by lost civilizations. Others don’t believe that, there ever was very advanced civilization on earth & all of the excellent knowledge was handed down to us by ancient astronauts who came down from heaven. The majority scientists do not subscribe to any of these ideas and try to explain ancient enigmas on the ground of religion and ritual.

There have no any individual who has never heard about Stonehenge. I guess it’s one of the most popular mysteries. Stonehenge is a megalithic tombstone on the Salisbury Plain in Southern England, composed mostly of 30 upright stones (each over ten feet tall and weighing up to 45 tons), allied in a circle, with 30 lintels (6 tons each) perched horizontally atop the sarsens in a constant circle.

The mystery of arising April Fools’ day

The mystery of arising April Fools’ dayThe question of when April Fools’ Day began is masked in mystery, but the most common theory about its source involves the Gregorian calendar reform of the late sixteenth century. According to this theory observance of the April Fools’ day began in 1582, when in Europe, France became the first country to jump from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, as per directive of the pope. This change meant that the beginning of the year was moved from the end of March to January. During the confusion of the year change, those who persisted in celebrating the New Year in April had various jokes played on them. As for example, pranksters would surreptitiously stick paper fish to their backs & mock them with the name “Poison d’Avril,” or April Fish. Thus, in this way, April Fools’ Day was born.

The Katskhi Pillar in Georgia

The Katskhi Pillar
The Katskhi pillar is an impressive limestone monolith, forty mtrs tall, located in the village of Katskhi in western Georgian region of Imereti. It is about 10 kms from the mining town of Chiatura. In pagan times & before the advent of Christianity, Katskhi Pillar was thought to symbolize a local god of fertility. After the arrival of Christianity in Georgia in the fourth century, the rock came to symbolize seclusion. According to the locals it stands the Pillar of Life.

At the top of the Katskhi pillar, are the remains of a church built between the 6th & 8th centuries. The church was perhaps built by the Stylites, who were early Christian austere who stood on top of pillars & preaching & praying. The only written record of the Katskhi pillar occurs in the text of an 18th-century Georgian scholar, who noted the church for its difficult accessibility. However, there exist a number of local legends surrounding the pillar. Among them one of which says that the top of the rock was connected by a long iron chain to the dome of the Katskhi church, located at a distance of around 1.5 kilometer from the pillar.

The Magnetic Strip: Mysteries Accident

There are 100 of unexplained mysteries from every corner of the world involving cars, drivers, car theft & abduction.  One of the most mysteries occurred soon after a new section of the Autobahn in Germany was opened to traffic between Bremen & Bremerhaven in the year of 1929.  During the first year alone no fewer than a hundred cars crashed or came off the Autobahn, but the accidents were all occurrence in exactly the same place, very near to kilometer marker number 239.  On one particular day, 7th September, 1930 nine separate accidents took place nearby to the marker place, in each of which all vehicles were destroyed.

There appeared to be no explanation for that accident, as the stretch of road in question was flat & straight and no hazards had been reported.  And that day in 7th September had been particularly fine & sunny.  However, survivors have told police, when they approached the marker they had felt a sensation in their stomachs as if they had crossed a humpback bridge at speed,  & a strange force then took over the steering and threw their car off the road.
